We cannot thank enough to the modern structures of overhead water tank and underground water tank that fulfils our daily needs of water and that too with much ease. Not only it finds an irreplaceable place in our life, but also in vastu shastra. While doing vastu of residential space or commercial space, vastuvid never fails to pay attention to the placement of water tanks in the right place.
In vastu shastra, the importance of direction is essential, but that is not all. Panchatatva elements also matters significantly. Panchatatva, as the name indicates clearly are the 5 primordial elements of nature that is the core element of the universe. It comprises of water, air, fire, earth and space. Everything we see around us is a representation of one of these. Water tanks are no exception in this case.
Since water tank holds water, anyone will assume that it represents water element. But you should understand vastu principle for it. There are 2 types of water tanks that we use. While the underground water tanks represent water element, the overhead water tanks represent earth element.
As we mentioned a while ago, vastu shastra uses directions primarily and there are 16 zones in vastu. Out of these 16 zones, 4 zones represent the water element. These are north of north west, north, north of north east and north east. The earth element is denoted by south west zone in the vastu.
It is essential that you place the underground water tank in the norther zones to set balance of Panchatatva. The second option for the same is east zone, which represents air element and fits perfectly for water element.
If you place the underground water tank in the south west zone, then it is considered as a major defect. We will learn of its consequences and remedies.
